Experience the atmosphere in the old house that whispers a little story about monks and nuns, brave knights and beautiful maids. See the nice old things which generations of islanders have upheld, and which today is irreplaceable treasures in the museum’s collections. There is everything from swords of Vikings to the finest porcelain and glass from our great-grandparents’ times. There is something for everyone. “The children’s paradise” could be a good name for the museum’s large collection of toys. Here you can see every boy’s dream and every girl’s highest wish, and you can tell your own children and grandchildren about the time, when “grandpa” was young. Throughout the year there are many different events at the museum. It can be anything from exciting special exhibitions, talks, and “do-it-yourself” to people, who on some days show and tell about their abilities.

The diatomite or kieselgur (in Denmark „Moler“) came into existence about 55 million years ago at the bottom of a big sea. The sea also covered the area, in which Mors and Fur are situated. The “moler” consists of a mix of fine clay and an inconceivable amount of microscopic diatoms, which lived, died and sank to the bottom of the sea. The museum shows an amazing collection of fossils and tells the story about the formation of the “moler” and the contemporary exploitation. There is a workshop with microscopes, where you can examine the “moler” yourself. In the beautiful area there is a nature trail, which leads through one of the “moler” trenches and past excavated houses from the Viking age and the Middle Ages. You can look for fossils at the bottom of the trench, but please do not look for fossils in the wall because of landslide danger. You are welcome to get your findings estimated at the museum.
