An invitation to visit the old wreck master’s farmstead…
The well-preserved wreck master’s farmstead was built in the years from 1854-1871, and looks as if the former residents still lived here. In the year 1996 Abelines Gaard received a distinguished building preservation price from “Europa Nostra”. Every summer inhabitants show trades which is linked to life on the old farmstead – e.g. amber polishing, lace-making, wool spinning, folk dance etc. Visit the old wreck master’s farmstead and have a taste of the life of Abeline and her children. Various exhibitions are shown in the barn, and in the coffee room you can relax with coffee and homemade cake.

A working musum founded by former coal workers, which tells about one of the big workplaces in the brown coal era. It shows how the digging was done and tells about everyday life in the coalfields. You may also go for a pleasant walk in the very special scenery.

Aulum Mill was built in 1908 and has over the years become the symbol of Aulum village. After a thourough restoration Aulum Mill now appears as when it was built. The mill works as an arts centre, with many changing art exhibitions and various types of children's theatre etc. In the basement is an old engine with its own story. The mill is definitely worth a visit.

How did the Vikings live? And how did they travel around? Take a journey 1000 years back in time!
Many brave boys and girls have since the opening of Bork Vikingehavn in the year 2000 been able to tell their friends a great story about the time where the meet true Danish Vikings! The beautiful buildings of the museum are reconstructions, and, to the extent possible, made like the original and of local materials. “Havørnen”, meaning The Sea eagle, is a 17 meter long Viking ship – a copy of the Gokstad-ship found in the Oslo fjord. During the summer and in the autumn break you can follow the work in the long house, buy goods on the Viking ship, and try the bow and the arrow and much more. Every year in the first weekend of August a well attended Viking Fair is held. Here you can see the Vikings bargain in the stalls, fight in great battles, riding and eating like they did a thousand years ago. Families and groups can stay the night in the Long House. Bovbjerg Fyr stands on the edge between Denmark and the ocean On the edge between fat farming land and poor sandy soils. On the edge between the soft curves of the landscapes of the last Ice Age and the flat
lands of melted water.
The Light House has existed since 1877, mostly for the benefit of sailors.The 93 steps of the tower lead to the lantern and the open gallery, where you can enjoy a stunning view.
The living room of Light House Master Rude has been transformed into a cozy café, where you can rest your tired legs and strengthen yourself with all sorts of delicacies.
In the garden of the light house master children can play and investigate.In both the former houses at the light house you can see new exhibitions every month, and at the entrance to the tower there is a small exhibition about coastal protection on the West Coast.

Brande Baptistchurch
- Brande Baptistchurch has a very unique and untraditional achitecture with a great deal of secular symbolism.
- Brande Baptistchurch is built by recycled materials and materials from nature.
- Brande Baptistchurch is a very exiting church, which is not used only for the purpose of sevice. In every day life it is also used for sunday-school, juniorclub, choiractivity, youth society, bibelgroups, parochial church council and much more.
- NB. Brande Baptistchurch is described as a free church.

Churches and Monasteries
Brande church - Brande church is a roman church built app. in the year 1175.
- Brande church has undergone several extensions and rebuildings:
- The tower and porch were added in the 14th century.
- The pulpit and altar in carved oak with tabloids from the testaments dates to the 17th century.

- Brande church underwent comprehensive restorations under the direction of architect Lønborg Jensen in 1939:
- Transepts, christening-chapel and vestry were added, together with granite porch and aisle lintels.

- Portal archway in granite and a new font.
- The organ from 1988 is built by Marcussen & Son of Aabenraa.

Brande Museum
At Brande Museum there is an opportunity to see how a typical farmer house, from earlier times, worked. There is spinning wheels and other tools to the textile handicraft, that made a suppliment to the little farmers income.
At the same time Brande Museum has a very fine collection of garments from this district, old tools and flint axes from the Stone Age by Skjern Stream.
Likewise Brande Museum has an interesting weapon collection and a unique collection of coins dating to the reign of Harald 'Bluetooth'.

Step back in time in Western Denmark’s only functional water mill, or follow the tracks of the gipsies.
The coffee room of the water mill coffee and home baked bread are sold. In the summertime the museum is full of life from the re-enactment in the smith’s shop, the water mill and the bakery. Furthermore, market days are held 2-3 times during the summer. At Christmas the place is open for Christmas markets, which is a local draw. Here you can buy Christmas trees, hot chocolate or Christmas presents. The mill has various displays, i.e. a very vivid story of the gipsies who used to live in the area. A wheelchair-friendly path is laid around the mill.

The museum was opened in September 1976 and it was extended with a extension in 1993. With its 4000 works made by a married couple, it makes an extensive impression of the two great Danish painters with association to the international cobra group. The works of art are presenting Herning Municipality by Carl-Henning Pedersen. The museumbuilding is constructed by the Architect company C.F.Moeller. The building itself is an architectural and artistic attraction. The outside is covered by a 90 m stone ware frieze, which Carl-Henning Pedersen has created for the building.

600 square metres exhibiton, 2 hectares with garden and a display of Georg Jensen Damask.
Clausager Kunstvirke shows and sells modern art and unique gift items. The place tries to encourage individuals and groups making of arts and crafts through displays and sale. The site is an older house, but has been extended several times. The garden has a lake and five small basins. From the café you can enjoy the view of lake and meadow while having coffee and cake. Clausager Kunstvirke has since 2004 presented collections from the supplier to the Royal Danish Court Georg Jensen in a shop-in-shop.

A flying museum… more than 40 vintage aircrafts in Stauning.
The Danish Collection of Vintage Aircraft has both Danish and foreign airplanes from the years between 1911 till 1990. The collection consists of e.g. Spitfire, Meteor, Starfighter and 11 Danish built KZ types. The museum in Stauning not only preserves old aircrafts, but they also keep them airworthy. 5 times during the summer the museum arranges flight nights. If the weather is fine, you can enjoy vintage aircrafts in the air. A visit at the museum takes you through the history and the development of the aircraft. In these years the museum is expanding and it is expected to open an even larger collection in 2007 - also with a section about the airforce.

The Danish Museum of Photography is situated in Herning, and it presents one of the greatest invention of our time:
Photography and Photography Equipment. The remarkable camera collection covers the period from photography's arrival in 1839 up to our time.
Special exhibitions: Panorama photographs, holographies, pictures of Hans Christian Andersen.
The museums's photo gallery shows changing picture exhibitions.
The Danish Museum of Photography offers infinite visual experinces for both children and adults.

The Red Huts, an excursion for the whole family.The Red Huts in Thyborøn are beautifully situated within a stone’s throw from the North Sea. Here is a cosy atmosphere with something to experience for the whole family.
The place has been established with a nice restaurant/café in maritime surroundings, a gift and souvenir shop and a candy factory.
The restaurant called Mallemukken is furnished in a cutter which has been turned upside down. The restaurant provides a general framework for maritime restaurant visits and for the organization of festive events.
All the activities take place in charming, old restored buildings that used to function as workshops in connection with the coastal protection work. So the wooden huts are more than 100 years old and definitely worth a visit.

A living past… Every summer for one week modern families chose to live like families did 2000 years ago.
Imagine a whole week without cell phones, radio, TV and internet… As a visitor at Dejbjerg Iron Age you can see how the lives of families were in the Iron Age 2000 years ago. You can also make wooden work or try out archery. The exhibition building is the first ecological museum construction in Denmark, and it contains i.e. a reconstruction of a 2000 years old wagon found in the area almost 100 years ago. It was part of ancient ceremonies.
Buildings & Townscapes
The dome measures 60 meters in diameter. Wide stair-cases of steal situated in each of the 4 corners of the world lead to platforms 11 meters above the ground. From the platforms you can look into the 4 columns, which rise 30 meters and end as shining globes. In the centre a gas-tower awaits the right moment... ELIA receives electrical discharges from the atmosphere and gives sound and fire in return. In thunderstorm a direct stroke of lightning will reverberete in peal of thunder in up to 20 seconds. At one time - nobody knows when - a gigantic gas flame will arise and burn for 30 seconds. It only happens once every 18th day.

Invite the family for coffee in the nice rooms, or make a reservation for the famous omelette-evenings at the little inn!
Fahl Kro (Inn) is an old 4 winged thatched farm. In the inn you can enjoy the true atmosphere in the original tap-rooms. Or visit the displays about the inn, hunting and nature around Ringkøbing Fjord. Inn-nights are held every Thursday during the summer. Here you can taste the famous omelette while seated in the old rooms, drinking Danish Aquavit and listening to old folk songs. These evenings are very popular, so remember to make a reservation. Also during the summer on Wednesdays you can sail on the fjord with the fishing dinghy “Laurids Fahl”. Furthermore, Fahl Kro has changing displays, e.g. about “the falconer and his hunting bird.”
Amusement Parks
The Familiepark West provides the facilities for fun and relaxation for the whole family. Three fishing lakes and physical activities, cafeteria and grill in beautiful surroundings. Camping site an cottages.
